What are your goals?
Liposuction. Think hour-glass. Liposuction will not take away extra skin or stretch marks, but its an incredible tool for smoothing and contouring everything from your back and bra roll to your flanks and arms. Every procedure is simply a tool that can be used to help you achieve your goals.
Lets start with what you want to accomplish?
If you don’t like the skin on your stomach, then we need a procedure to address skin (tummy tuck or skin tightening). If you don’t like the excess fat, then we need to address the fat (tummy tuck or liposuction. If the muscles and fascia (covering around the muscles) have been damaged by childbirth or weight loss then a tummy tuck is really the only procedure able to tighten muscles like an internal corset. This is our simple approach to find the right procedure for you.
Liposuction is an excellent way to address excess fat and achieve a smooth silouhette. There is a modest skin tightening effect associated with liposuction as well. There are other techniques (renuvion or BodyTite) that can tighten skin better and work well with liposuction. Depending on your heritage and genetics, your body has specific areas that it prefers to store fat. There is no way to spot reduce any of these areas naturally. Even if you are a competitive athlete or body builder, there is a cyclical change in your body contour as maintaining a maximally lean physique year round is not ideal and can be unhealthy particularly in women.
What areas can be treated with Liposuction?
Liposuction is not just limited to the trunk or stomach. Liposuction can be used to reduce and smooth arms, legs, and neck as well. Small incisions are placed where they can be hidden with underwear or a bathing suits and they fade away.
Recovery after Liposuction
These procedures can be performed as an outpatient. We recommend going to sleep (general anesthesia) for most types of liposuction, and recovery is about 1 week. Due to the large areas treated, swelling can last for a few months before your get to see your final shape. Compressive garments like Fajas and lymphatic massage can accelerate the healing process. Results will continue to improve up to 1 year from surgery as your body continues to remodel collagen.
If you are preparing for an event, we recommend surgery no less than 12 weeks before your big day, in order to ensure proper garment sizing and full activity.
